The Miracle Worker
November 9 & 10
CCS presents the classic drama, The Miracle Worker, on Thursday and Friday, November 9 and 10 at 7 PM. Written by William Gibson and recipient of the 1960 TONY award for Best Play, The Miracle Worker tells the true, inspiring story of how Helen Keller received the gift of communication, guided by her teacher Annie Sullivan.
The drama, directed by CCS English Language Arts teacher Janna Hertzler and co-directed by senior Joyelle Watkins, is based on the autobiography of Helen Keller entitled The Story of My Life. Helen Keller (Emily Wenger) is a blind, deaf, and consequently mute child whose parents, Captain Arthur Keller (Sam Garrett) and Kate Keller (Emily Rader), are at their wit’s end trying to control and teach her. They send for an instructor and receive Miss Annie Sullivan (Annalise Foxx), a young woman little more than a girl herself, who is still plagued by her tragic past. Both Helen and Annie need a miracle that only the other can work in their lives. This heartwarming, lightly humorous, family-friendly show is sure to be a crowd pleaser for all ages.
